I understand that Daniel Cameron may be a nice person; however, this is NOT the time to root for everybody Black. My goal is not to put down Cameron. I am sure he is a nice man. Invite him to dinner. Invite him to have a beer. You may even invite him to your cookout but do not invite him to the Attorney General seat on Election Day.
Black women have paid our dues in blood.
Black women are tired of cleaning up your messes!
Black women will no longer let you suck at the bosom of our brilliance.
Black women are not this nation’s mammy. Our titties are tired!
If you want to save this nation, take a long hard look in the mirror. Do not ask us to save you.
In thinking about racism, I was reminded of the Five Stages of Grief (Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance) developed by David Kessler and Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. I realized that facing racism has a similar process. There are stages of facing the reality of racism.
How long are you going to remain lukewarm, Amy? How long are you going to flip flop on issues that impact this state and this nation? PICK A SIDE and show this state WHY you are the BETTER PERSON TO LEAD THIS STATE! If not STEP ASIDE so that someone can stand in their TRUTH and COURAGE to show the people of this state just how much we can rise when we stand together!
Trusting Black Women is more than a catchy hashtag. It is more than a talking point on the campaign trail. Trusting Black Women is more than inviting a Black woman to the table without any leadership or decision-making authority. Do not invite me to the table if I am expected to sit pretty and poised with no power. Making a hashtag does absolutely nothing without clear motives and actions behind it.
This week Stacey Abrams appeared on The View and was asked about the rumors that she was being tapped to run alongside (behind) Joe Biden as the 2020 Vice President candidate. With no hesitation, Abrams stated, “I think you don’t run for second place.”In one sentence, Abrams spoke an entire sermon, and it resonated deeply with me. While Abrams was talking about the primary, I took her comments as a lesson for my life to stop running for second place. Who stands at the starting line of a race and says, “I want to be second?” Your mentality should always be, “I want to be first!” The goal should always be to run to win!
Did a Black man really ask Black people to put ourselves into the shoes of a White person? Are you KIDDING ME, Cory? WHAT SHOES? Shoes of privilege? Shoes of cognitive dissonance? Shoes of denying racism exist? Shoes of “just get over it?” Shoes of Make America Great Again? I don’t need to step into the shoes of White America.
In an industry that is heavily male-dominated, with labels crafting who they wanted to be the next “It Girl,” Cardi’s B carefree, no holds barred, style took the world by storm. Gone were the days of industry curated and crafted interviews.
