In another episode of “Black women tried to tell us,” the media is “outraged” about Donald Trump’s and John Kelly’s handling of Rob Porter and the abuse allegations levied by two of his ex-wives, Colbie Holderness and Jennifer Willoughby.

Really? Are you really that outraged? If only there were signs of Trump’s and Kelly’s character before we got to this point.

When Myeshia Johnson, a pregnant Black woman mourning the death of her husband, Sergeant La David Johnson, expressed her disappointment that Trump didn’t even know her husband’s name, Trump essentially called her a liar. When Rep. Frederica Wilson, remarked that Trump told Johnson, a grieving widow that her husband, “knew what he signed up for, but I guess it still hurts,” Trump called Rep. Wilson a liar.

Trump’s administration echoed his sentiments when John Kelly stood at a podium and addressed the American people, deflecting from Trump’s comments and painting Rep. Frederica as a liar. Kelly spoke about Rep. Frederica Wilson’s remarks made at the dedication of a new building in Miami, calling her, “an empty barrel.” Video footage was released that disputed every word he said and proved him to be a liar and instead of apologizing, Kelly stated that he would “absolutely not” apologize and in fact stands by his lies. To add insult to injury, Kelly then went on national TV and said, “I would tell you that Robert E. Lee was an honorable man. He was a man that gave up his country to fight for his state, which 150 years ago was more important than country. It was always loyalty to state first back in those days. Now it’s different today. But the lack of an ability to compromise led to the Civil War, and men and women of good faith on both sides made their stand where their conscience had them make their stand.”

Donald Trump and John Kelly have shown the nation who they are and Black women have been at the forefront calling them out on their abuse of women, racism, and divisiveness and once again, you didn’t listen.

If you did listen, there would not be this “shock” and “outrage” when it was revealed that, top White House aide, Rob Porter “allegedly” abused two ex-wives, Colbie Holderness, Porter’s first wife, and Jennifer Willoughby, Porter’s second wife. Both women claim that it was Porter’s consistent abuse that led to their respective divorces.

Images of Colbie Holderness, with a black eye, soon surfaced on social media to bolster her claims of physical abuse. Shortly after the information was released, although he denies the allegations, Porter, “resigned” from his position at the White House. The story seems pretty cut and dry but what would allegations of abuse be unless Trump and Kelly didn’t believe them and wished the abuser well?

Before the pictures surfaced, Kelly said that Porter was “a man of true integrity and honor.” And Trump said “I found out about it recently and I was surprised by it. We certainly wish him well. It’s obviously a very tough time for him. He did a very good job while he was in the White House. We hope that he will have a wonderful career.”

Really? Now I could pick that apart all day long but at this stage in the game if you have read my blog you know where I currently stand and have stood on Trump and Kelly. My opinion of them is not going to change because they have repeatedly shown us who they are.

I watched this issue play out in the media, and I was appalled that so many White women are acting as if other White women are not complicit in the behavior of Donald Trump and John Kelly. MSNBC Host, Nicolle Wallace wonders why women who are serving in the White House are not resigning amid the Rob Porter scandal and President Donald Trump’s response to the domestic abuse allegations.

Why won’t they resign?
Because they are COMPLICIT.
Because Trump’s beliefs align with their views. A White House divided against itself cannot stand. So inevitably, they are working together.

This who is at the top when it comes to women in leadership in the Trump Administration.

Have you forgotten? White women need to stop pretending as if White women themselves are not complicit in everything that is happening in the White House. We can start with the 53% of White Women that voted for Donald Trump. They didn’t care that he sexually assaulted women. They didn’t care that he said, “grab em by the pussy.” They didn’t care that he was sued for not renting to Black people. They didn’t care that he ran a campaign that was racist and divisive. They SHOWED America who they were and what they supported when they voted. And they may genuinely believe that they stand for women, but they voted in the interest of keeping White supremacy alive. What’s a little sexism if Trump will uphold racist beliefs and systems that benefit them and their families?

From the top, down, White women in the Trump Administration stand up and defend Trump and Kelly’s racist and sexist behavior or for the most part remain silent, doing nothing, thereby being complicit in everything Trump does. From Melania Trump, Ivanka Trump, Kellyanne Conway, Hope Hicks, Sarah I-Lie-For-Sport- Sanders and Paula White, they all insulate Donald Trump and make excuses for and defend his racist, divisive policies and behavior. Because THEY ARE A PART OF IT! So why are we pretending? Hope Hicks is DATING Rob Porter and KNEW about the allegations against him.  How much more complicit do you need to be? 

These women have no interest in truly standing up for other women. If you believe this is just a ‘not defending women issue,’ you are wrong. This is also a ‘defending and upholding White supremacist beliefs and policies’ issue. I do not know why we pretend that many White women were not complicit in some of the most heinous crimes against humanity.

Many White women fought to uphold racist beliefs and values by any means necessary during slavery and Jim Crow. Many White women were complicit in fighting against Civil Rights, and even today, White women are on the forefront of supporting a man that espouses a racist agenda. Many White women are always going to do what they feel is in their best interest and often that will be at the expense of anything else-even if that means being complicit in the bad behavior of men and even if that means walking over or willfully ignoring women that do not fit in their neat, comfortable social circles or are just a stepping stone to their own power. 

On Twitter, HLN host, S.E. Cupp suggested that all women from cooks, secretaries, advisers or spokespeople working in the White House should just stay home until they learn their environment is a safe place. Doesn’t that sound nice?  Listen, it is NOT the job of women who are in low level positions to place their livelihoods on the line for women that have a history of not going to bat for them. That is the problem with White feminism. It demands the MOST from the people that are the MOST vulnerable. All of the women pictured above are White and financially secure. Why don’t THEY stay home? Why don’t THEY stand up and speak out? Why don’t they do something that will benefit ALL the women in the White House? 

Will any of these White women break rank and call Donald Trump and John Kelly out on their behavior? If history has shown me anything, I won’t hold my breath.
